The Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) was created approximately 25 years ago by the automotive industry as a way to validate production readiness to engineering & quality requirements. Over the last five years, PPAP has also become a central focus of product and process validation prior to serial production in the aerospace industry. Recently , the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) released AS9145, entitled “Requirements for APQP and PPAP”. Steve Webster of UTAS, will speak on what the chief components of APQP and PPAP are, their inter-relationship, and what it takes to be successful at the implementation of each. When they work together, the two form a chief part of a company’s risk management strategy.
